Hared Ochoa - President

Hello everyone, I’m Hared Ochoa and I’ll be serving as President for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers here ate UCSD. I have been a member of our chapter since my freshman year but I didn’t become involved until my sophomore year when I held the treasurer position. Since then, I have had a lot of personal growth and professional improvement.
SHPE has given me a lot of opportunities to test and improve my abilities in teamwork, communication, and leadership. Along the way I have created a big network of students, professionals and faculty that has opened me to internship and research opportunities, life long friends and unforgettable experiences.
This year as president, I hope to increase the awareness of SHPE and its benefits around campus and our members. I want our members to have more opportunities to get involved and in the process, receive the full benefits that SHPE has to offer. There are so many events we are planning for the year, and I want to make sure that UCSD, SHPE SD, and SHPE Region II, are well aware of all the hard work that our board and committee members are doing.
I’m very excited to have such a diverse and enthusiastic board. We all want our chapter to succeed, and we will all be working hard to make it happen.

Joshua Ramos - Vice President Internal

Nancy Campos - Vice President External

Adela Hernandez - Secretary

I am currently a sophomore from Warren College and am planning to be a mechanical engineer with a minor in international relations. I’ve been involved with SHPE since spring quarter of my freshman year at UCSD. Through SHPE, I’ve been able to gain support academically as well as professionally. SHPE has helped me make friendships within our organization and with other chapters as well. As this year's secretary, I hope I am able to help run this great organization on our campus and make a positive impact on our community.

Dante Urzua - Treasurer

Elizabeth Alvarez - Historian

My name is Elizabeth Alvarez and I am a second-year Revelle student. I am majoring in computer science and engineering and I am this year's historian. This is currently my second year being part of SHPE and I am glad to be part of the board. I look forward to developing my professional skills as well as my public speaking.

Eduardo Bravo - RLDC Co-Chair

Hi, currently I am a senior majoring in mechanical engineering. I work as a tutor for the SSSP OASIS Center. I love to help whenever I get the opportunity. I would like to say I’m honored to be given the chance to serve as this year’s RLDC Chair for SHPE UCSD. I will aim and strive to ensure the conference is well-organized and funded to ensure attendees receive the maximum benefit possible. Personally, I'm very thankful towards SHPE for providing me with professional skills as well as with the opportunity to share my experiences with great friends. I look forward to meeting you and helping make your professional career a success.

Mayra Vega - RLDC Co-Chair

Hello SHPE! I am a 4th year environmental engineering student and I am from Marshall College. I joined SHPE a little less than a year ago and recently became appointed the Regional Leadership Development Conference (RLDC) Co-Chair. I grew up in the Bay Area (in a little city called Hercules) and I came to UCSD last September. Soon I will begin research in environmental fluid mechanics with Paul Linden, the MAE department chair. You can usually find me in S&E or playing my keyboard. I started playing piano when I was 7 and have been playing ever since.

Hello there! I am currently a senior majoring in computer science and I am glad to say that I am finally involved in SHPE doing something that I like and that is related to my major. I've been a member of SHPE since my sophomore year here at UCSD, but I never really got involved. However, SHPE has actually helped me break that barrier and become more involved and outgoing thanks to its many professional development events.
As one of this year's webmasters, I hope to expand my knowledge of web design and apply the many things I learn about it to this website. I hope to learn things that will allow me to create a visually-pleasing and functional website for this year's SHPE UCSD members. With the help of my co-webmaster Everardo Maya, I am sure that I will accomplish this. Everardo and I both appreciate any feedback you would like to provide us about the website so that we may improve it to better suit your needs. If you feel the need to submit feedback, which we really hope you do, you can do so by contacting us at the listed e-mail addresses and/or phone numbers. Thanks!
